+## Power math
+
+I only have one option for expanding power right now: steam generation, powered by raw coal. That cycle takes raw coal (or any other fuel) as input to make Fawogae spores, electrical power plus spores to make Fawogae mushrooms, and then turns those mushrooms into raw coal to be burned for power.
+
+The limiting resource in this cycle is raw coal. A full yellow belt of raw coal, when burned for stream, produces 22.5 MW of power, along with a full belt of ash. Generating that much raw coal requires 6 Fawogae mushrooms per second, which would require 86 plantations to produce. We're going to start a bit smaller.
+
+* The limiting item for power _generation_ is raw coal:
+	* 1 raw coal -> 125 spores + 1 ash
+	* 2.06 raw coal + 3 spores -> 7 Fawogae + 2.06 ash
+	* 0.26 raw coal + 2 Fawogae -> 5 raw coal + 0.26 ash
+	* 1 raw coal -> 1 ash (when burned)
+	* 10 ash -> 1 soot, 0.05 iron oxide, 0.5 coal dust
+* At 1.5 MJ per item, a belt of raw coal can provide up to 22.5 MW of power. This also makes a full belt of ash.
+* It takes six Fawogae mushrooms per second to produce 15 raw coal per second.
+* Boiling water to make 250° steam makes XXX steam per second.
+* Steam generators can consume up to YYY steam per second each and generate ZZZ MW each when using 250° steam.
+* A straight mechanical inserter can move up to AAA coal or ash per second.
